VoIP Watchdog

Voice network QoS monitor for VoIP and TDM switches!
Dexter says: Relax, I've got QoS problems under control!

What is VoIP Watchdog?

VoIP Watchdog™ is a web-based quality of service (QoS) monitor and alarm manager that alerts you via email when route quality on your VoIP or TDM network drops below acceptable levels. VoIP Watchdog continually scans your most recent CDRs for alarm conditions like low ASR, low ALOC, or too many consecutive incomplete calls on a route. Scans are performed hourly, 24/7/365, giving any carrier, regardless of size, tier-one levels of network surveillance and responsiveness -- vital tools in the never-ending battle to maintain superior network quality!

Who Needs VoIP Watchdog?

Carriers who run non-stop traffic without a fully staffed 24/7 network operations center (NOC) need VoIP Watchdog. Carriers who must maintain consistent route quality or risk losing fickle customers need VoIP Watchdog.

How Does it Work?

Every 15-minutes VoIP Watchdog downloads CDRs from your network to Switch Management's data centers in California and Las Vegas. Upon arrival the call records are immediately rated and made ready for QoS analysis.

VoIP Watchdog then compares these calls against your pre-set alarm thresholds, generating an emailed alert whenever an alarm condition is detected. Email can be directed to cell phones or alphanumeric pager services that provide an email gateway.

VoIP Watchdog supports VoIP equipment like Cisco AS5300s and it also supports many traditional TDM switches like Excel EXS and Nortel DMS when the switch is capable of generating CDR files at 60-minute intervals or better.

As an ASP, control over VoIP Watchdog is 100% web-based enabling you to manage your alarm settings from anywhere, and see implementation of the service in as little as 24-hours! Fees start at just $75/month for up to 1-million minutes.

Supported alarms:

  • ALOC (average length of call): Too low or too high.
  • ASR (answer seize ratio): Too low or too high.
  • Consecutive Incomplete Calls: Too many.
  • ICPIF (ITU-T standard G.113, measures transmission impairments): Too many calls over threshold.
  • Trunk Group/Carrier/Region In/Out of Use: Is an overflow route operational? Did a past customer return?
  • Treatment Code: Detected more than X treatment code Y's.
  • Customer Pre-pay balance met.
  • Customer Post-pay balance met.
  • Vendor Pre-pay balance met.
  • Vendor Post-pay balance met.

Each of the above alarms can be configured to apply only to a specific...

  • Country, city, or any existing Region defined in your rate table.
  • Carrier, either inbound, outbound, or a combination of both.
  • Gateway or trunk group, either inbound, outbound, or a combination of both.

Alarm control:

  • Alerts appear in an on-screen log and/or emailed message.
  • Each alert can be directed at one or more email addresses. Send low ASR and low ALOC alerts to your routing/LCR group; send treatment code alerts to your engineers; send inbound carrier out of use to your sales team.
  • Emails can be temporarily deactivated for each alarm.
  • Powerful wildcarding allows carrier-wide and even network-wide alarms to be set up with a single entry.

Knowledge is Power:

Don't wait for trouble tickets to knock you out of routing! VoIP Watchdog can alert you to problems before your customers know they exist, giving you ample time to correct the problem or reroute critical traffic.
